Lesson 1 - Merna's Stand

Stand: Drill two 3/8” holes in to the base that are 4-1/2” apart measuring from the center of each hole. Lightly sand the whole base. Cut a 3/8” dowel into two 11” pieces. Dry fit the dowels into the holes. Set aside dowels until later.

Paint the base with your choice of colors, maybe using a watery like effect. You should also paint the dowels to match the base. You will notice that my dowels are painted only half way up. That is because the rest of the dowel sits inside the fish's body and doesn't show. I sometimes like to use glitter paint when the other paint is dry to highlight areas on the base

Glue on shells, beads or other assorted creatures of the sea around the base and close to the holes. I also used flat back glass baubles which I attached with Crystal Lacquer. You may wish to add more later once the fish has been placed on the stand. The dowels are first attached to the fish, then when the fish is finished the dowels will be glued into place in the stand.
