Step 1:
On the right side of the fabric, match the bound edge of the gathered lace to the curved raw edge of the Bonnet Back Crown.
Sew the lace to the Crown.
Do not sew lace to the bottom straight edge of the Crown.

Step 2:
Gather Bonnet Side Crown between the dots.
Pull up the gathering to fit the curved edge of the Bonnet Back Crown.
Pin the Side Crown to the Back Crown.
The lace around the Back Crown will be sandwiched between
the Back and the Side Crowns.
Sew the gathered Side Crown to the Back Crown.

Step 3:
Turn under lower edge of bonnet twice and hem.
Stitch the hem close to the first fold.

Step 4:
On the right side of the fabric, match the bound edge of the lace to the raw curved edge of one Bonnet Brim.
Sew the gathered lace to the Brim.

Step 5:
Right sides facing, sew the two curved sides of the Brim pieces together with the lace sandwiched between the two pieces.
Turn right side out.
The pattern shows the dot on each end of the Brim.
Topstitch around the curved edge from the dot at one side to the dot on the other side of the Brim. |
Step 6:
Gather the front edge of the Bonnet Side Crown between the dots.
Pull up the gathering to fit the Bonnet Brim.
Pin one side of the Brim to the gathered Side Crown edge.
Sew the Brim to the Crown.

Step 7:
Turn under and pin the other edge of the Brim to the seam. This encloses seam made when you sewed one side of the Brim to the gathered edge of the Side Crown (pictured above).
Hand stitch the turned under edge of the Brim to the seam.

Step 8:
Cut a 7" piece of 1/8" wide elastic.
Using a zig-zag stitch on your machine, sew it around the bottom
edge of the Bonnet, stretching the elastic as you go.
Do not sew the elastic to the Brim. Sew it to the bottom edge of the Bonnet only. The picture at the right has X's labeled A and B to show you where to sew the elastic. Sew the elastic between these two points.

Step 9:
Cut 2 pieces of 1/4" wide ribbon for the ties on the Bonnet.
Cut each piece 14" long.
Make a small loop at the end of each tie and tack as shown in
the picture at the left.
Sew one ribbon to each side of the Bonnet at the back edge
of the Brim as shown in the picture at the right.
Place the Bonnet on the doll's head and tie the ribbons in a bow under her chin.
