Chapter 7
Toes & Dimples

Feet

Step 1:

Mark each foot with a disappearing ink marker.

Divide the area between the center seam and the inner foot.  The big toe will require 2/3's of the space and the second toe 1/3.

Divide the other side of the foot from the center seam to the outside edge into 3 equal spaces.

Each line dividing the toes needs to be 1/2" long.

Step 2:

Thread a 3" doll needle with approx. 30" of craft thread.

Make a small knot in one end of the thread.

Working with one foot at a time, insert the needle in the bottom of the foot directly under the end of the line for the big toe.    Exit on the top of the foot, at the base of the first line you drew (for the big toe) ~  the line that separates the big toe from the second toe.

Make a small stitch going from the top of the foot, straight through to the bottom of the foot,.
Pull the thread tight.

Make a small stitch and go back up to the top of the foot.  Pull the thread tight.

Step 3:

Loop the thread around the end of the toe.

Insert the needle into the bottom of the foot and exit at the last stitch you made on the top of the foot.  Pull the thread tight.

Make a stitch and exit at the under side of the big toe.

Step 4:

Insert the needle back into the same place on the underside of the big toe.

Exit on the top of the foot at the base of the line for the next toe.

Make this toe and each of the others the same way you did the big toe.

Step 5:

Make the toes on the other foot the same way you did for the first foot.

Step 6:

The last thing that needs to be done is to make dimples in the knees and the elbows.

Thread the doll needle with carpet thread.  Make a small knot in one end of the thread.  Insert the needle on the inner side of the leg at the knee - at the end of the knee dart.

Exit the needle on the other side of the center front seam at approx. the same distance from that seam.

Make a small stitch and exit back at the end of the knee dart. Making a small stitch and go back to the other side of the seam.  Repeat 4 or 5 times to lock the thread and the stitches.  Cut the thread.

Make the knee dimple on the other leg the same way.

Step 7:

Make a dimple in each elbow the same way you made the knee dimples.

The next thing we need to do is
put hair on her bald little head.
That's in the next chapter.
