  • 3" doll needle
  • 5" or longer doll needle
  • regular sewing needle - one that is at least 1½" long
  • regular sewing thread - white or peach and also colors to match clothing fabric

  • scissors
  • straight pins
  • (optional) doll diaper
  • (optional) pacifier and/or baby bottle  (The doll's mouth will snugly accommodate a full size pacifier, but I also use pacifiers and bottles for Preemie babies.  I found the pacifier and the bottle when I did a search on ebay for "doll bottle".  I like the Preemie pacifier because it doesn't cover quite as much of the doll's face as a regular sized one did.  However, either will work.  Also, sometimes  you can find a doll bottle filled with candy at Wal-mart stores, Walgreens, etc. that will work great for this doll too.  I have a picture of one such bottle below.  Just about any pacifier or baby bottle will work.
Doll Dress, Bloomers, & Bonnet:
  • 3/4 yd fabric
  • 7 yds of gathered 1" wide lace
  • thread to match fabric
  • 13" of 1/4" wide elastic for bloomers waist
  • small safety pin to pull elastic through waist casing on bloomers
  • 1 yd. elastic 1/8" wide for dress arms and bloomer legs
  • 5 yds 1/4" wide ribbon to make bows & bonnet ties
  • 3 snaps for back of dress
  • 3 small buttons to sew to back of dress over snaps
Shoes:
  •  Darice "Foamies" Sheets (9" x 12") or other craft foam (1 color or a variety of colors) - I found the Foamies at Wal-mart and   bought 3 different color sheets for my shoes.
  •  22" of 1/4" wide elastic
  • Beacon's Fabric Tac glue or other fast grab glue that will work on foam.
  • Scraps of dress fabric for elastic casing
  • decorations for toe straps (ribbon bows, flowers, etc)
  • needle & thread
Doll Body with Optional Head:
  • 1/2 yard flesh color robe velour
  • 9" x 12" piece long pile fur
Any of the items below will fit in the doll's mouth.
bottle I found the Preemie bottle at the left and the Preemie pacifier at the right (sold as a set) on ebay from a seller named "bids-and-pieces". If you can't find this seller, I'm sure there are others. pacifier
This doll bottle is filled with candy and I found it near the check-out counter at my local Wal-mart store.  It's about 4" tall and cost $.79.

The pacifier at the right is a regular sized baby pacifier.  It fits snugly, but it will fit in the doll's mouth.
