Step 1:
If you prefer, you can put a doll diaper on your doll instead of the bloomers, or you can put the bloomers on over the diaper.
I found the doll diaper in the picture on ebay. I think they are cute, but they absolutely are NOT essential for the doll. The Bloomers we'll be making will work just fine. I only wanted to show you another option for clothing on the doll.

Step 2:
Sew lace to the back of the Bloomers along the lines shown on the pattern.
Right sides facing, join the Bloomers Front to the Bloomers Back by sewing the two pieces together at one side seam.
|
Step 3:
Make the casing at the waist by turning under the top edge 1/4". Press.
Turn under again along the fold line shown on the
pattern. Press.
Stitch close to the first folded edge.
Cut 13" of 1/4" wide elastic. Use a small
safety pin to pull elastic through the casing.
Tack the elastic to the bloomers at each side.

|

Step 4:
Right sides facing, sew the other side seam to completely join the Bloomers front to the Bloomers back.
Cut 2 pieces of lace. Each one 11" long.
Sew the lace to the edge of each leg opening and hem the opening the same way you hemmed the ends of the sleeves.
The pattern shows the placement of elastic in the legs.
Cut 2 pieces of 1/8" wide elastic, each one 6" long.
Sew the elastic to each leg the same way you did for the
sleeves.
|
Step 5:
Right sides facing, sew up one inseam, around
the crotch, and down the other inseam.
Turn the bloomers right side out and place them
on the doll.

In the next chapter, we're going to make a bonnet for our baby doll.
