Step 1:
Dress Bodice
Sew the Bodice Front to the Bodice Back pieces at the shoulders.
On the wrong side of the fabric, sew gathered lace around the neck. Clip curves.

Step 2:
Turn the lace around the neck to the right side of the fabric and topstitch.
Match the bound edge of the lace to the raw edge at the bottom of the Bodice Front and both Bodice Backs and stitch across as shown in the picture. Do NOT turn the lace under and do NOT topstitch.

Step 3:
Dress Skirt
Do NOT sew the 3 pieces of the Dress Skirt together yet. Work with each one individually for right now.
On the right side of the fabric, sew gathered lace around the lower edge of each of the 3 Skirt pieces
- the Front Skirt and the 2 Back Skirt pieces.
Turn the lace on the lower edge of each Skirt piece to the wrong side and topstitch to hem.
Run a gathering stitch along the waist of each Skirt piece.

Step 4:
Right sides together, gather one Skirt Back to one Bodice Back from the armhole to the fold line on the Bodice Back. Sew the two together.
The lace at the lower edge of the Bodice will be sandwiched between the Bodice and the Skirt.
Repeat for the other Skirt and Bodice Back pieces.
Gather and sew the Skirt Front to the Bodice Front the same way from armhole to armhole.

Step 5:
Topstitch the waist on the Dress Front and on both Dress Backs.

Step 6:
Sleeves
Finish the lower edge of each sleeve the same way you finished the
lower edge of the dress by adding lace and hemming.
Cut 2 pieces of 1/8" wide elastic. Cut each one 4 1/2" long.
Sew one piece of elastic to each sleeve. Placement is shown on the paper pattern.
Tack one end of the elastic to the seam allowance at each side. |
Step 7:
Set your sewing machine for a small zig-zag stitch.
Stretching the elastic as you go, sew the stretched elastic
along the sewing line.

Step 8:
Gather the tops of the sleeves between the dots.
Match the notch at the top of the sleeve with the shoulder seam.
Pull the gathering thread to gather the sleeve to fit the armhole
on each side of the notch. Pin and sew the sleeve in place.
Clip the curves.

Step 9:
Pin and sew the underarm and side seam on each side of the dress.

Step 10:
Finish the back opening by folding under along the line shown on the pattern. Press.
Evenly space and sew on 3 snaps between the neck and the waist. On the right side of the fabric, sew 3 small buttons over the top of each snap.

Step 11:
Add a some bows to the dress. I put one at the neck, one at the
waist, one on each sleeve.

You now have a darling little dress for your doll.
