…Chapter 7 Part 3 …
Making the panties, stockings, (tights) sport bra, shirt and skirt.
Also dressing your Whatever! Whatever! and accessorizing the hair.
~ Part 1 ~ Part 2 ~ Part 3

The skirt***

This skirt is really easy, and almost "one size fits all". If desired you can curve the front edges rather than making them straight. You can lengthen it too. One dollmaker in class made it floor length and from a very soft fabric. It made an evening skirt.

In the picture showing the curved front, I used a contrast so you can see the curve. It isn’t science, just a slight curve, cut off of the front edges. Keep the skirt parts on the fold and cut both edges at the same time.

The green print is cut in a curve.
The fold is at the top of the picture.

1. Sew the skirt and the skirt lining, together all around the outside edges, leaving a small opening along one front edge.

2. Clip the waist edge about every 1", and trim the other seams to about 1/8" except at the opening. Leave the seam allowance at the opening full width.

If you are using a woven fabric for the skirt you may want to put Fray stop along the edges too…or…Zig-Zag stitch all around. I Zig-Zag.

3. Turn the skirt right side out, press, and top stitch all around the outer edges, closing the small opening as you do so.

To leave an opening to turn through.

  Turn, press and top
stitch all around.

4. Fit the skirt around your doll with the waist below the belly button. Mark with pins where the ends overlap and sew snaps in place to hold both edges at the waist.

Sew snaps for closing the skirt waist.

5. Sew a big button in place. Choose a button to co-ordinate with the colors or fabric of the skirt. I have a Safari look going here, so chose a big leather button. Wait til you see what I found for jewelry!

***Let’s accessorize***

Whatever! Whatever! likes hair "stuff" and jewelry and you can have so much fun with it.

That "puddle down by her feet in a previous picture is a multi strand necklace with many colored beads and carved wood animals. I have wanted someone to wear some of it for a long time.

This Whatever! is begging for some of it!

  All of my jewelry on.
Hair ribbons too.

Remember, way back at the start of this class when I said "It ain’t done, til it’s done"? Welllll

I have decided that this doll’s face is too serene for her outfit.

Ahhhhh! The great thing about painted faces is that you can change things right up until you are "done".

I am going to open her mouth and add teeth. More in keeping with the "original" Whatever! Whatever! Be Back………

I am so serene.

  I AM PERKIER!

Well that does for this chapter. I want to encourage you to accessorize your dolls with real jewelry or jewelry made from broken necklaces or purchased beads. Have fun with it.

Ask a teen what they like. I almost bought one of those "hair" necklaces that all the girls are wearing.

The doll who will be dressed in the "Bonus" outfit in chapter 8 has on real ear rings already and is just waiting for her new outfit. She is going to be very sporty.
